How long is the program?
The Winter, Spring, and Fall sessions are for 12 weeks, Tuesday – Thursday, 1:00 – 7:30pm. The Summer session is for 6 weeks and students must apply through DC SYEP (DC Summer Youth Employment Program). Application deadlines for each session are listed below.

WHERE ARE FOOD FOR LIFE CLASSES HELD?
Food For Life classes are held at our training kitchen located at Capitol Hill United Methodist Church:

How MUCH DOES TRAINING COST?
Food For Life's training program is free. All participants will receive a transportation stipend and can earn additional money for their overall performance and progress in the program. DC SYEP participants are paid through DOES.
What if I've never cooked before?
No previous culinary experience is required to participate in Food For Life, only an open mind and willingness to learn.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Prospective students should submit an application to Food For Life. See the section "Student Application" below.
WHEN AND HOW WILL I HEAR BACK ABOUT MY APPLICATION?
Food For Life will contact you after you have submitted your application to schedule an interview. Final decisions will be made two weeks before the program starts and you will be notified of your status by phone or email. Students may apply after the deadline (see below), however on-time applications will be given first consideration.
